Mommy Files: 3 things I do daily to care for my infants hair

I having been wanting to share some insider experiences and tips as a new young hip and cool mom to a rambunctious little boy. So I will be featuring these tidbits regularly on the blog and have deemed them "Mommy Files". This first one today I have been wanting to share for a while....

Its a funny thing having a son with a head full of hair, just like how his parents were when we were born.
Believe it or not, I learned a valuable lesson, when my son was four and a half months old.... Now I only have experience with my son, but  I realized how important developing a hair care routine was very important for my son. Hair Care is something very important for adults but also infants,and certainly not limited to females.

March 2014

At 4-5 months my sons hair was starting to thin on the back side. Everyone including the Dr and Google said it was normal,grrrr. This is normal and happens to almost all babies, as everyone says its unavoidable, but I did not like it one bit. The thinning comes from the baby laying on their back all the time,sometimes spit up occurs when they are laid down and the formula can get in the hair and dry it. This happened a lot with my son.

During that time I developed a regiment for my sons hair that I feel continues to work very well and stimulate faster re-growth in that area and with his entire head. I have a couple of homemade recipes I used every single day on his hair and skin. Any Naturalista will tell you, for most ethnic hair, moisture helps stop breakage and continue growth.  The most important things that I do to take care of Norths hair is,I keep my sons hair moisturized daily,I shampoo his hair once every 7-10 days,and Massage his scalp daily.

I'll share some of the process with you:

Routine

In the morning when he wakes up:

Mist the hair : Water and Essential Oil Mix [Peppermint Oil,Lemon Oil,Rosemary,Jasmine]
Apply Shea Moisture Kids De-tangler {if necessary for kinks]
Work in the spray by finger combing
Apply dime size amount of Shea Moisture Conditioner and finger comb in hair
Apply a dime size amount of Shea moisture kids curl cream to finish [amazing stuff]

TIPS

Current:Hair slowly but surely growing, its not an overnight process it takes time and consistency 

Initially I was using a concoction I made up with coconut oil,shea butter,coco butter,and aloe very mixed with essential oils. After his hair started to grow back I switched to Shea moisture products and occasional use the concoction I made..

 I do not use a comb on my sons hair unless I am shampooing it. I work in all product with my fingers.

That is my normal everyday sometimes twice a day regiment. I usually massage his little scalp lightly and specially pay attention to the hair in the back that is thinner.

Getting the right nutrients is also very helpful in hair growth, My son is on formula but also gets fruits,veggies,egg yolks,lean meats mainly all homemade [He is 10 months and has been on solids since 4 months]

Be consistent, the hair did not break overnight and it will not grow back overnight.
